Project CLATHROBROBES

INEOS RAS

INEOS RAS includes 38 laboratories and 18 research teams. The team from INEOS RAS belongs to the Laboratory for Aliphatic Organoboron Compounds that is one of the leading in Russia in the field of coordination and macrocyclic chemistry. This lab (head: Prof. Yan Z. Voloshin) elaborated novel general methods for the synthesis of the apical- and ribbed-functionalized cage complexes with encapsulated transition metal ions and studied the factors affecting their electronic, molecular and supramolecular structure. Kinetics and mechanisms of the template synthesis and decomposition of the macrobicyclic complexes have been also studied, for the first time, by this research team. The practical application of these cage compounds include the iron and cobalt clathrochelate-based electrocatalysts of hydrogen evolution reaction, the design of promising elements of molecular electronics and photonics, electrochemical sensors and paramagnetic shifting agents for biological testing. Such complexes with an encapsulated iron(II) ion have been also recognized as efficient transcription inhibitors of the RNA and DNA polymerases, antifibrillogenic agents and boron-enriched targets for 11B-NCT treatment of cancer.
Infrastructure: The laboratory is equipped with scientific instruments necessary for the synthesis and characterization of metal-containing compounds and their conjugates (gaz chromatograph, preparative liquid chromatograph, FR-IR, NMR spectrometers, luminescent spectrofluorimeter, MALDI-TOF and ESI mass spectrometers).
Researchers involved in the realization of the project: 2 ER, 4 ESR.
